Formation
| Attaches to | Form | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Time noun | N(time) + 以降 | 来年以降 / 明日以降 / 五時以降 |
Examples
六時以降なら、いつでも電話してください。

この駅は来月以降、特急が止まらなくなる。
From next month onward, the express will no longer stop at this station.
When you can't use it
- 以降 needs a specific time anchor to mark the start of the range; it can't float free as an adverb meaning 'henceforth.' Say 以後気をつけます ('I'll be careful from now on'), not 以降気をつけます.
Easily confused with
以後 Almost interchangeable as 'from ~ onward.' 以降 reads as a neutral schedule/range marker (四月以降); 以後 can additionally stand alone with a self-corrective 'henceforth' tone. 〜以来 以来 runs from a past point up to the present and emphasises the continuous span ('ever since'). 以降 just marks the start of an open-ended range and is often about the future.
