Formation
| Attaches to | Form | Example |

| Repeat the same predicate, sandwiching ことは | [word]ことは[same word]が — VることはVるが / Aことは Aが / Aな-adjことは Aな-adjだが | 読むことは読むが / 静かなことは静かだが |
When: Conversational; signals reluctant agreement before raising a 'but', softening the objection that follows.

読んだことは読んだが、内容はよく覚えていない。
I did read it, but I don't really remember the content.
静かなことは静かだが、駅から遠い。

Notes
- 〜には〜が is a very close variant (食べるには食べるが 'I do eat it, but…'); casual speech also uses 〜ことは〜けど. The trick is always the same: repeat the word to concede it, then turn with が/けど.
