とても もっと is comparative — a greater degree than the current or another level ('more'). とても is absolute — a high degree in itself ('very'). もう Both can add quantity, but もっと raises the degree ('more, to a greater extent'); もう＋number adds a discrete unit (もう一ひとつ = 'one more').
