Meaning

~, right? / ~, isn't it? — invites the listener to agree or share the feeling

ね assumes you and the listener are on the same page — it softens a statement and builds rapport rather than delivering news. Leaning on it too much can sound like you're constantly fishing for agreement.

Easily confused with

よね seeks agreement on something you assume is shared; よ asserts something new the listener doesn't yet know. 雨あめだね = 'it's raining, isn't it' (we both see it); 雨あめだよ = 'it's raining, you know' (I'm informing you).
