Formation
| Attaches to | Form | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Noun, or opposite pairs (行く行かない / 多い少ない), + にかかわらず | N / [A or not-A] + にかかわらず | 年齢にかかわらず / 参加するしないにかかわらず |
Examples
経験の有無にかかわらず、応募できます。
You can apply regardless of whether you have experience or not.
金額の大小にかかわらず、寄付は歓迎します。

Easily confused with
にもかかわらず The も is the whole difference: にかかわらず = 'regardless of (a variable)', the result is constant across cases; にもかかわらず = 'in spite of (a specific fact)', expressing surprise that B happened despite A. 天候にかかわらず (rain or shine) vs 雨にもかかわらず (even though it rained). を問わず を問わず is near-identical 'regardless of', but pairs with category nouns (国籍・性別・経験) meaning 'any ~ is fine'; にかかわらず more readily takes opposite-pair conditions (多い少ないにかかわらず).
Notes
- Often follows yes/no or opposite-adjective pairs (好き嫌いにかかわらず). 関わらず is the more careful kanji; かかわらず is also written 拘らず.
