connective N3 common casualpolitewritten

〜と同じで — the same as ~

〜と同じで ・ とおなじで

Meaning

おなじ ('the same as ~') with で, the て-form of the copula, lets 'X is the same as Y' lead into a further clause: 去年きょねんおなじで、今年ことしあつい ('same as last year, this year is hot too'). The plain noun-modifying form is とおなじ + noun (わたしおな意見いけん, 'the same opinion as me'); とおなじだ ends a sentence with it. とおなじで means *identical in kind*, not merely close in degree.

Key sentence

My answer is the same as Tanaka's — I'm against it.
