Easily confused with
故に 故に states the same logic as a bare connector or attached to a reason (病気故に). それゆえ packages 'for that reason' as a sentence-opener referring back to the whole prior statement. だから だから is the everyday 'so'. それゆえ is its formal, literary equivalent. それで それで neutrally moves on to a consequence or next step. それゆえ marks a reasoned logical conclusion.
