When you can't use it
- The standpoint-holder is almost always a person or group whose feelings or judgement are at issue; the variants にすれば / にしてみれば are interchangeable. Not used for an inanimate vantage point.
Easily confused with
〜にとって にとって neutrally marks 'for ~' when evaluating importance (私にとって大切); にしたら zooms into how the situation FEELS from that person's emotional standpoint ('as they'd see it'). 〜からすると からすると judges or infers FROM a basis or evidence ('judging from ~'); にしたら adopts a person's subjective viewpoint ('in their shoes').
